Urogenital Chlamydia trachomatis, transmitted by sexual contact, is caused by serotype D~K of biovar trachoma. Male infected Chlamydia trachomatis most perform urethritis that some can be relieved without treatment, but most become chronic, periodic aggravation, and can be combined with epididymitis, proctitis and so on. Female infected Chlamydia trachomatis can cause urethritis, cervicitis and so on. Salpingitis is a serious complication. This serotype can sometimes cause Chlamydia trachomatis pneumonia.
