Common DC diesel-electric propulsion system is an innovative technology which uses DC mode to connect electromechanical equipment. It is an important upgrade and optimization of AC technology and is considered as a new generation of electric propulsion system scheme.
The DC diesel-electric propulsion system splits the AC-DC-AC conversion link in the AC converter, and transfers the working side of all equipment from the original alternator side to the DC side, but its equipment and load equipment still adopt the AC mode. It is solved the problems of grid connection, harmonic suppression and system resonance.
The system uses DC mode and asynchronous generator, the transformer, distribution panel and other equipments are saved, the volume of the system equipment is saved about 30%, the weight is saved about 40%. At the same time, the equipment interface and wiring cable are saved, and reduce the system cost.The system uses variable speed diesel engine scheme, so that the diesel engine runs at slow speed when low load condition, when the diesel engine runs in the high efficiency area, fuel saving rate reaches 10% to 20%. At the same time, the diesel engine runs in the noise optimization area when runs at slow speed, the noise can be reduced 30%.
