Pionin - Super antibacterial activity
The high antibacterial activity of pionin was first reported in 1951. From then on, the drug was mainly used in cosmetics, and it was not until 1962 that the authorities published the standard for the use of pironin as a quasi-drug. Pionin was included in the Japanese cosmetic Ingredients Standard established in 1967.
The structure of pionin is very similar to that of cyan dye. The structure contains a thiazide ring, which is bound to the N-site of the heptyl group as a nitrogenous heterocyclic ring. According to the report, the antimicrobial activity of pironin is mainly related to the length of N-acetyl group.
