“The Belt and Road ”runs through European and African continents, with the active East Asia Economic Circle on the one head, developd European Economic Circle on the other and inland countries with great development potentials in the middle, among which the priorities of the Silk Road Economic Belt are to smooth the ways from China via Central Asia, Russia to Europe (Baltic Sea) ; from China via Central Asia, West Asia to Persian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea; from China to Southeast Asia, South Asia and Indian Ocean. Priorities of 21st Maritime Silk Road are routes from Chinese coastal ports through South China Sea to Indian Ocean, which extends to Europe; from Chinese coastal ports through South China Sea to South Pacific Ocean. On land, relying on the international passageways and supported by central cities along the route, with key economic trade industrial parks as cooperation platforms, the Silk Road will jointly make an international economic cooperation corridor with the new Eurasia Continental Bridge, China-Mongolia-Russia, China-Central Asia-Western Asia and China, Indo-China Peninsula; On sea, with major ports as nodes, the Silk Road will jointly build a safe and efficient transportation passageway. The development strategy of “the Belt and Road ” goes with the historical trends of multi-polarization, economic globalization, cultural diversitification and social informatization, adhering to the opening spirit of regional cooperation, it commits itself to maintain the global free trade system and an open world economy, actively explores new pattrens of international cooperation and global governance and builds communities of common interest, common destiny and common responsobility, which are of political mutual trust, economic integration and cultural inclusiveness. It is thus clear that the renewed "Silk Road" Initiative today is not expected to simply regain the glory of ancient Silk Road, but contains more far-reaching epoch-making significance. The development strategy of “the Belt and Road” is a magnificent strategic decision, which is a successsion of ancient Silk Road and maritime Silk Road, with extension and development to ancient Silk Road and with a view to China’s development demands and answering to tha call of world development.
